I liked this. <3 I'm in the military and I know the life..
-I'm used to standing up at the beggining of every movie for the national anthem.
-I love Far East competitions.
-All of my friends are diverse. We're all a minority.
-I'm used to saying cuss words in another langauge a friend taught me.
-I'm used to explaining to others that I'm still an American citizen, even though I was born outside of the States.
-I'm used to showing my ID when I go to the grocery store.
-I've eaten atleast once in a ship or mess hall for Thanksgiving.
-I literally know a lot of people from all over the world.
-Sad but true, I'm used to losing touch with friends.
-I've memorized all the state capitals thanks to AFN commercials.
-I get mad when military services advertise their stuff like there's another place to buy it from. "I only go there because it's the only place that has it!"
-I'm used to free(or super cheap) everything! (gym, arcade, movies, teen center, skateing...)
-I'm used to explaning to non-military kids that just because I live in Japan doesn't mean I know how to make sushi or speak fluently in Japanese. Or of course, in any other military base.
-I'm know the difference between an AIRPORT and TERMINAL.
-I'm used to seeing another person wear the same exact thing as me becuase we all shop at one store.
-I can't live in a house with no air conditioner.
-I'm used to seeing all the houses look the same.
-I'm NOT used to having to turn off lights, and in general conserve energy.
-I'm used to getting military discounts at amusement parks.
-I'm used to seeing everything late when it comes to movies and television.
-I've met or atleast seen a celebrity thanks to USO tours.
-DODEA is LIFE.
-and last, but not least, I've moved atleast once every two years. |
